The director of the Eastern Mediterranean Region of the World Health Organization visited Isfahan cardiovascular research institute

On 13th March 2024, Dr. Hanan Balkhy, the WHO Regional Director for the Eastern Mediterranean, visited Isfahan Cardiovascular Research Institute (ICRI) during here travel to Iran.  Dr. Hanan Balkhy to be informed in terms of recent developments in science and research in ICRI. She and her associated team including Dr. Jafar Hossein, as the WHO Representative in Iran, Dr. Farshidi, the deputy minister of health and medical education, and Dr. Niknam, as the director-general, international affairs, ministery of health and medical education and the dean of the Isfahan University of Medical Sciences and his deputies visited the ICRI as the lone WHO collaborating center in Isfahan.

  During the meeting, Dr. Sarrafzadegan, the director of the ICRI, introduced the institute and its activities, in particular, those in line with the WHO goals and preventive activities for non-communicable diseases like "Operation and model implementation to mitigate the impact of cardiovascular disease in Iran through the management of diabetes and hypertension, as well as secondary prevention."  During an interview with the media, Dr. Hanan Balkhy told “the activities of ICRI at Isfahan University of Medical Sciences as the WHO collaborating center in the areas of science, research, and public health is a good illustration for other countries and its activities for policy makers and stakeholders are well compatible with WHO standards.
